The Rhythm of Love

Falling in love is the most bewildering, intoxicating, and ridiculous phenomenon that one may ever experience.

As a matter of fact it is the only kind of falling that could bring one’s heart blissfulness. But when the heart dances to the rhythm of love, it will surely plunge itself into the ocean of dumbness, deafness, and blindness.

A lover may feel the agony of separation once he is away from his beloved. He will catapult himself into dumbness that he could not find tranquility. Like a buzzing bee in desperation for pollen, he will surf from one flower to the other.

He would certainly embrace deafness that he refuses to hear from none other than the sweet voice of his sweetheart; and he would cloak himself by the mantle of blindness that he would ignore everything other than the beauty of his beloved’s face.

Way back in 2017, I, along with my family, witnessed and participated in the union of two flaming hearts at the Hill Creek in Tagaytay City. The handsome groom happened to be my hubby’s cousin, a young doctor of medicine whose beautiful bride was also one.

It was hard to deny the breeze of love that ruffled at the peaceful garden which graced the couple’s wedding rite with warmness and pleasant temperature; the whoops of joy in the eyes of the exuberant guests that glittered like twinkling stars; the sound of laughter of both young and old that reverberated like sweet melodies; and the eyes of the couples’ families and close friends that brimmed with tears of happiness.

The couple was flooded with euphoria as their ecstatic hearts manifested in motion. Their eyes glittered with tears of joy as they expressed sincerely their hilarious and intimate wedding vows in a relaxed atmosphere – Cloud nine!

Love was so magical that their dissimilar cultures and religious beliefs did not become a hindrance that could create a threatening conflict or bar the door of harmony between their burning hearts.

Love was such a spirituous beverage that when the Powerful One commanded them to gulp such an intoxicating drink, like the interaction of two chemicals, their enraptured hearts were metamorphosed into one coruscating substance instead of a harmful matter.

As Shams Tabrizi advises:

“A life without love is of no account. Don’t ask yourself what kind of love you should seek, spiritual or material, divine or mundane, Eastern or Western. Divisions only lead to more divisions. Love has no labels, no definitions. It is what it is, pure and simple. Love is the water of life. And a lover is a soul of fire! The universe turns differently when fire loves water.”

I should say it was a union of physicians’ hearts who roved for a long time along the polychromatic orbit of medical profession. It took them many years to experiment, discover and appreciate the chambers of their hearts as they journeyed towards the wards of the whims and cruelties of love.

There were times they could not fathom each other’s psyche. They could not balance their states of mind until they found an effective medicine for their afflicted hearts: From the ridgepole of unity, they hung the dextrose of intimacy, which contained glucose of wedding vows and a vaccine against fear.

Without reservation, they injected it into their thirsty veins right in the Eyes of the Beloved and all the lovers that bore witness to their memorable union.

It was no doubt that fire and water could become one, indeed!
